Flowing from Yosemite Valley, through Vernal and Nevada Falls, the Merced River can challenge even the most experienced whitewater rafter. Protected as a Wild and Scenic River, the 28.3 mile river is highly popular, with multi-day trips available.

Difficulty:
During peak snowmelt, the river can have up to class IV rapids. Later in the season the river calms to class III.

Season:
April - June, with higher class rapids earlier in the season.
