        Sycamore Canyon Open Space Preserve is a place where one can seek solitude in a scenic and natural environment.  The canyon preserve is well know for peacefulness, recreational opportunities, and beauty.  Visitors can hike along miles of trails, where they will enjoy scenic vistas and an abundant of wildlife.  Visitors can also experience the long and varied history of man's use of the area. 

    Sycamore Canyon consists of  approximately 1,700 acres of covered hills nestled between the cites of Poway and Santee. Bordering the canyon on the west side and stretching through the valley floor is the 325-acre Goodan Ranch.  Goodan Ranch is rich in history.  Present day structures at the preserve date back to the 1930s, when it was a working ranch.  Both Goodan Ranch and Sycamore Preserve host a multitude of different plant and animal habitats.   

                                       

   

 The preserve contains more than ten miles of hiking, bicycle, and equestrian trails.  There are staging areas along the trails, so your horses can take a rest. Horseback riding is allowed seven days a week at Goodan Ranch and Sycamore Canyon.  However, vehicle access to Sycamore Canyon from Highway 67 is allowed only on weekends.
