Sunset Cliffs
General Information: Located south of Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs Park is a short drive from the airport, downtown San Diego, and Mission Valley. The park sits between Point Loma Nazarene College to the South and Adair Street to the north along Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a 68 acre park stretching along the Pacific Ocean bordering the western edge of Point Loma. Sunset Cliffs Park has become a popular wedding spot in San Diego. Open daily but with no lifeguard on duty. Fees: None! Park in one of the small public parking lots sitting right on top of the cliffs.
Interesting Facts: The 50-acre hillside section of the park is designated multiple species conservation area, links to the 640-acre Point Loma Ecological Reserve beginning at the Navy property to the south. The Park's topography includes carved coastal bluffs, arches and sea caves. Date Ideas: Take a bike ride along the cliffs and enjoy the breathtaking view. Take a walk and if you can tear your eyes away from the splashing waves and open ocean, look at the beautiful houses across the street and pick which one you would live in if your ever became a millionaire. Park at one of the several lots along Sunset Cliffs Blvd. Climb very carefully down to one of the lower rocks and have a wine and cheese picnic. Watch migrating California Gray Whales during the winter months from high on the bluffs.
