Why Spatial Distribution of AIDS

The mapping of vulnerable populations helps to identify location and size. It provides as evidence based planning for HIV prevention, care, treatment and support.

State specific mapping gives us a macro picture at state level, which can later be assessed to confirm information in terms of existing high risk behavior patterns or availability of infrastructure etc. It also defines state response, particularly in respect of locating the targeted interventions.

AIDS data serves in monitoring the spread of the HIV epidemic and could contribute to the planning of hospital and home/community based care for AIDS patients.

Our Goal

Our goal is to assist educational, advocacy and research efforts in dealing with the spread of AIDS in Africa and India.

A spatial representation of the distribution of AIDS in these areas may help with decisions regarding:

  • Epidemiology of areas of fastest spread
  • Distribution of Health Services
  • Targeted Political Advocacy
  • Awareness and Education
