Anhinga Anhinga anhinga

Along the Pacific coast, the Anhinga is resident north to central Sonora, and vagrants farther north are few.  In California only four records are supported well enough to have been accepted by the California Bird Records Committee.  Just one of these is from San Diego County.

Winter: San Diego County’s single known Anhinga, a female, remained continuously at Sweetwater Reservoir from 4 February 1977 at least to 20 January 1979 (W. T. Everett; Bevier 1990).
