Background
-
Somalia has been without a
government since 1991 when a civil war broke out. Most of the
country is control by different warlords. Governments around the
world have tried to help establish a government, however, it has
been difficult. For this reason, the Somali people have been
suffering for the past 15 years from the lack of security, food,
and other harsh living conditions. Due to safety and
security reasons, many Humanitarian Aid Agencies are
leaving the country. Of all the Humanitarian Agencies that operate in Somalia, only
few of them are equipped with the right tools for their risky relief
work. For example, Agencies
such as, International Committee of the Red Cross, USAID are some of the
well known Agencies that have been working in Somalia since the
civil war. Unfortunately, some of these Aid Agencies are not
able to deliver the aid to the people who are in need. Overall,
the country
in general lacks the following things:
-
Security
-
Economics
-
Infrastructure
-
Communication
-
Transportation
