New Trolley Stations

Many of the new trolley station have a unique feel to it. They have different kinds of design that are currently not found in existing trolley stations. One can say that each station is like a work of art.

Grantville

The Grantville Station is located of the Mission Gorge/Fairmount exit of Interstate 8. This station is elevated 40ft above the ground and has parking space for 248 cars. Bus service is provided to the station. The station has a unique design. The station will a include a slightly curve platform and canopies. The design of the station is inspired by boat and airplane architecture. The designers wanted to pay tribute to the aviation and nautical industries in San Diego.

SDSU Transit Station

The San Diego Trolley Station will be located within the campus itself. This station is seen as a major transportation hub for SDSU and the surrounding communities. SDSU Trolley Station will also provide riders access to Cox Arena, and the Open Air Theater. The station has a unique design. The ceiling of the underground station have cable-wire that look like tree roots. These roots are suppose to represent the university's "roots" within the community.

Alvarado Hospital Medical Center Station

The Alvarado Medical Center Station will be located across from the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center and several apartment complex. Many of these apartment complex are occupied by SDSU students. This station provides the waiting riders a unique opportunity. Within the walls for the station there is a 12 line riddle which the designers of this station hope will provide the waiting rider with a fun activity.

70th St. Station

The 70th St Station will be the second of the four new station to provide parking spaces. There will be a total of 131 parking spaces. This trolley station is design have a park setting feel to it. Also, portions of this station were made by using recycled material.
