Centre City

In this project, we refer to Centre City as downtown San Diego as a whole. The east side of Centre City is home to the East Village neighborhood which is undergoing large-scale development. The anchor project for this neighborhood is Petco Park, the new ballpark for the San Diego Padres. This neighborhood has been historically plagued with crime and poverty. Many of the city’s social services are located in or near this neighborhood. Also
within the Centre City designation is the popular Little Italy and
Gaslamp neighborhoods which are home to the city’s busy nightlife
and urban residences. |
