RECENT Publications (some papers are downloabable)

Scholarly Books

·       Peng, Z.R. and Tsou, M. H. (2003). Internet GIS: distributed geographic information services for the Internet and wireless networks. (704 pages, publisher: John Wiley & Sons, Inc.).  Professor Michael Goodchild (elected member of the National Academy of Science) at the UC-Santa Barbara wrote a foreword for this book.  Several book reviews were published in related GIS journals.  The followings are two examples of the reviews:

Book Review Example #1: In Cartography and Geographic Information Science Vol. 31. No. 1. 2004. by Suzana Dragicevic and Shivanand Balram. “Internet GIS is a valuable addition to the field of GIS, providing comprehensive and rigorous theoretical principles supported by practical implementations.  Topical, relevant, and pertinent, it will aid GIS researchers, engineers, project managers, as well as the general GIS user”. Page 55-57.

Book Review Example #2: In Journal of Planning Education and Research, Vol. 23, No. 3, Spring 2004. by Richard E. Klosterman. “The book does an impressive job of accomplishing all of these objectives in more than 650 pages of surprisingly readable text…. The book will also serve as a marker, reporting on an important stage in the development of software tools for spatially oriented research and professional practice.  As a result, this is an important book for anyone interested in the application of advanced information technologies to planning and public affairs.” Page 321-322.
