Yosemite National Park is located in the high Sierras of California, 150 miles east of San Francisco. In 1984 it was designated a World Heritage Site and now has an annula park visitation record that exceeds 3.5 million. Yosemite is famous for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, giant sequoia groves, and biological diversity. Spanning over 750,000-acres, the 1,200 square-mile park contains thousands of lakes and ponds, 1600 miles of streams, 800 miles of hiking trails, and 350 miles of roads. In addition, two federally designated wild and scenic rivers, the Merced and Tuolumne, begin within Yosemite’s borders, flowing west into California's Central Valley.

The purpose of this website is to familiarize readers with some of our favorite trails within Yosemite National Park. The cartographic aspect of this website functions on three separate levels: static general reference maps, pragmatic flash animation maps to guide users through trails, and animated fly-throughs to give users an overall impression of the terrain. Addditional information is provided through photographs, text, and hyperlinks to other sites of interest.
