Construction Site 4

The erosion potential of this site is enormous. The soil is loose and bare and the slope is steep everywhere.

Fiber roles have been placed on the largest and steepest slope. What appears to be a temporary irrigation system has been installed.

The same slope now appears, a week later during a rain, after the application of hydromulch.

From the top of this site the strategic gravel bag placement is visible. One row of bags has been placed between the road and the site. Additional rows have been spaced about 15 meters apart perpendicular to the slope in an attempt to slow the runoff.

Here gravel bags have been placed to prevent sediment runoff into the storm drain, although clearly sediment is reaching the drain.

Some of the gravel bags have broken open, but they'll still do their job of preventing most soil from flowing off the site.

A rather sizeable channel of water has formed during a spring rain. The muddied water is pooling in the foreground.

Further down the hill the runoff carries a lot of sediment.

Finally, the sediment enters the storm drain.
