ERDAS IMAGINE Processes First Image From IKONOS Satellite

Atlanta, Georgia, USA - ERDAS, Inc., a strategic business partner of Space Imaging, Inc., is pleased to announce that ERDAS IMAGINE software is being used to process and display the first image collected by IKONOS, the world's first commercial high-resolution satellite, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA, on September 24, 1999. The image is a one-meter resolution black-and-white image of Washington, D.C.

"This opens up an exciting new era of global, geographic imaging on the desktop," said Lawrie E. Jordan, III, ERDAS' president. "This truly is the dawn of the Earth information age."
